On Friday 12 December, VASEA, in partnership with the Australian Alumni Business Network (AABN), the Australian Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, Dear Our Community, and Australian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (AusCham), co-organised the event: 🇦🇺🇻🇳 Australia–Vietnam Alumni Business Forum in Ho Chi Minh City. The forum, funded by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, was honoured by the participation of
🇦🇺 Australian Minister for Education, The Hon. Mr. Jason Clare MP (joining virtually due to a schedule change during his official Vietnam visit),
🇻🇳 Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Science & Technology, Dr. Bui The Duy
🇦🇺 Australian Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Sarah Hooper
🇦🇺 Australian Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Renee Deschamps
🇦🇺 Senior Trade & Investment Comissioner to 🇻🇳 and 🇰🇭, Austrade, Ms. Emma McDonald

✨ VASEA Vice President, Ms. Ha Nguyen, also a member of the AABN Advisory Board, moderated a fireside chat featuring distinguished speakers, including the 🇻🇳 Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Science & Technology and the 🇦🇺 Australian Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam. Mr Do Tien Thinh, Deputy Director of Vietnam National Innovation Centre (a strategic partner of VASEA) participated in the panel discussion.

✍️ A highlight of the forum was the MoU signing ceremony between AABN and Vietnam-Australia Scholars and Experts Association (VASEA), signed by VASEA Vice President, Associate Professor Lien Duong, and Dr. Dong Phung, PhD, AABN Advisory Board member. The MoU opens new opportunities for cooperation between industry and researchers in Australia and Vietnam.

🎥 A short video showcasing VASEA activities over the past 2 years was shown at the forum, following the VASEA address. After the event, the Vietnam Bureau Chief for Global Affairs Correspondence of The New York Times approached Associate Professor Lien Duong for an interview and a potential feature of VASEA, an encouraging recognition of VASEA’s impact.💫

👏 Thank you to all speakers and contributors for making the forum a great success. We look forward to a meaningful and lasting collaboration with AABN in the future.
