☘️ In order to realize its vision, goals, and core values, the Vietnam-Australia Scholars and Experts Association (VASEA) is officially expanding its scope of activities to include Health Sciences. At the same time, it is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Nguyễn Tuấn Anh to the Executive Board, where he will serve as Vice President in charge of Health Sciences.

With extensive experience in research, teaching, and health science policy-making, Professor Nguyễn Tuấn Anh will play a key role in connecting, leading research, and implementing initiatives in the field of Health Sciences.

Professor Tuan Anh Nguyen is a leading public health and social gerontology researcher dedicated to advancing equity in ageing, dementia prevention, and care. At Swinburne University of Technology and the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI), he spearheads research focused on improving outcomes for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and vulnerable populations across Australia and the Asia–Pacific region.

Since 2016, Professor Nguyen has led a landmark multinational collaboration addressing the dementia challenges facing low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), developing regionally tailored, culturally grounded interventions to reduce inequities in demenita prevention, diagnosis, and care. He is also the Principal Investigator of an NHMRC–eASIA grant and an MRFF-funded project developing and implementing an AI-powered Virtual Assistant to support carers of people living with dementia in the Asia–Pacific.

A recipient of the NHMRC–ARC Dementia Research Development Fellowship and an Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute (Trinity College Dublin), Professor Nguyen has been recognised internationally for his leadership in brain health equity. He currently serves as Programs Chair of the Health Policy Professional Interest Area within the International Society to Advance Alzheimer’s Research and Treatment (ISTAART), shaping global dementia research and policy agendas.

With a deep commitment to community-engaged, impact-driven research, Professor Nguyen has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and policy briefs, presented at more than 70 conferences, and secured over $19 million in competitive research funding. His work bridges the gap between science, practice, and policy, advancing inclusive, person-centred care models for older people and those affected by dementia.
