Vietnamese-heritage academics continue to make their mark on the global research stage, with several scholars named among Australia’s Top 250 Researchers in 2026 by The Australian.

Among this distinguished group, Associate Professor Vinh T. Nguyen and Associate Professor Minh Bui, both VASEA members, stand out as leading figures in their respective fields, reflecting the growing global influence of Vietnamese intellect in academia.
Assoc. Prof. Vinh T. Nguyen, has been recognised as Australia’s most influential researcher in Organic Chemistry, within the broader discipline of Chemical and Materials Sciences. He is currently an Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), a university ranked among the world’s top 20 institutions by QS 2026. In recognition of these outstanding achievements, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang sent a congratulatory letter on 26 December 2025, expressing her appreciation for his sustained contributions to scientific advancement and to the Vietnamese scholarly community overseas.
Assoc. Prof. Minh Bui, based at ANU, leads the field of Evolutionary Biology, with internationally recognised contributions in computational biology and bioinformatics, built on a strong academic foundation spanning Vietnam and Europe.
VASEA takes great pride in counting scholars such as Vinh Nguyen and Minh Bui among its members.
