On 11 June 2026, representatives of the VASEA Executive Committee, led by Ms Jane Tran, Vice President of VASEA, and Dr Huyen Vuong, General Secretary of VASEA, together with the Executive Committee of the VASEA Victoria Chapter, led by Dr Linh Nguyen, Co-President, and joined by Dr Thanh Nguyen, Vice President, and Dr Thai Vu, Vice President, as well as a number of VASEA Expert Members, had the honour of meeting with the Ho Chi Minh City delegation during their official visit to Australia and New Zealand.

The delegation was led by Mr Hoang Nguyen Dinh, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, and included senior leaders from government agencies, universities, and major enterprises.
Mr Dinh updated VASEA on his visit and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Government of Victoria covering five key areas of cooperation: Education, Tourism, Innovation, Energy, Ports, and Logistics. These are all areas in which VASEA’s network of scholars and professionals possesses significant expertise and is well positioned to contribute through knowledge exchange initiatives and international collaboration.

Representatives of the VASEA Executive Committee also introduced the Ho Chi Minh City delegation to VASEA’s structure, network, professional capabilities, and aspirations for strengthening cooperation between Australia and Vietnam in the years ahead. As a gesture of friendship, VASEA presented the delegation with a boomerang, one of Australia’s most recognisable cultural symbols. In return, the VASEA Executive Committee was delighted to receive a gift of Vietnamese coffee from the Ho Chi Minh City delegation.

The meeting took place in an open and collegial atmosphere, fostering meaningful discussions on opportunities to deepen collaboration between the two countries.

More than a networking event, the occasion reaffirmed VASEA’s role in building a dynamic community of Vietnamese scholars and professionals, creating opportunities for members to connect, share experiences, expand collaborative networks, and strengthen engagement with Vietnam in ways that contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr Hoang Nguyen Dinh and the entire Ho Chi Minh City delegation for their valuable time and insightful discussions with VASEA. We also thank the members of the Executive Committee, VASEA Expert Members, and the wider VASEA community whose participation helped create an evening filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and optimism for future collaboration.
VASEA will continue to strengthen its role as a bridge connecting scholars, professionals, businesses, and institutions across Australia and Vietnam, supporting sustainable collaborative initiatives and generating meaningful value for both countries.
