Funding Opportunity for Australia–Vietnam Research Partnerships

The Vietnamese Australian Scholars and Experts Association (VASEA) is pleased to share an important funding opportunity for researchers, universities, research institutes, and industry partners across Australia and Vietnam through the Australia–Vietnam Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation Initiative (AVSTICI) Grants 2026.

Established under the Australia–Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, AVSTICI is a flagship bilateral initiative jointly supported by the Governments of Australia and Vietnam to strengthen scientific collaboration, technological innovation, and long-term research partnerships between the two countries.

The 2026 funding round focuses on three priority areas:

🔹 New and renewable technologies
🔹 Sustainable blue economy
🔹 Recycling and waste management

A key feature of the program is its bilateral co-funding model, whereby Australian and Vietnamese research teams jointly develop and implement projects while submitting applications to their respective national funding agencies. Beyond supporting research activities, AVSTICI aims to foster enduring institutional partnerships and strengthen the innovation ecosystems of both countries.

Projects are expected to generate meaningful scientific, economic, and societal impacts while contributing to the sustainable development priorities of both Australia and Vietnam.

VASEA encourages researchers, academics, and innovators seeking support for impactful international collaborations to explore this opportunity and connect with potential partners across the Australia–Vietnam research community.

Submission deadline: 20 July 2026
