On March 13, 2025, the Board of Directors of the Vietnam – Australia Scholars and Experts Association (VASEA) had the honour of accompanying His Excellency Pham Hung Tam, Ambassador of Vietnam to Australia, along with Dr. Bui Viet Khoi, Science and Technology Counsellor, on a visit to the University of Adelaide. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Professor Jessica Gallagher, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement).
As part of the visit, the delegation toured the state-of-the-art Semiconductor Laboratory, valued at $26 million. This cutting-edge research facility holds great potential for technological innovation. The University of Adelaide is the only institution in Australia collaborating with Silanna, one of the country’s few semiconductor manufacturing companies. With an investment of over $26 million, Silanna has contributed to the development of modern infrastructure and laboratories to support research and advancement in semiconductor chip design and production.
Beyond being an advanced research hub, this laboratory sets new global standards in semiconductor technology. It serves as a convergence of groundbreaking technology and practical training models, laying a solid foundation for shaping the future of the semiconductor industry—a sector of keen interest to both Vietnam and Australia.
