VASEA would also like to share with you VASEA’s key activities during the official visit of the Vietnam Prime Minister His Excellency (H.E.) Pham Minh Chinh to Australia 7th to 9th of March 2024.

Last week, the Vietnamese Prime Minister H.E. Pham Minh Chinh and his delegates of high-ranking leaders had an official visit to Australia. VASEA has had the following activities with the Prime Minister and his delegates:

  • Official agreement of collaboration between VASEA and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST). The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in Melbourne and witnessed by the Minister of Science and Technology (MOET) of Vietnam, the Honourable Mr Huynh Thanh Dat.
  • Contribution to key forums during the PM visit including the Australia-Vietnam Business Forum and Australia-Vietnam Education Forum.
  • A two-hours special meeting with the Prime Minister H.E. Pham Minh Chinh of Vietnam and five Ministers from the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), Ministry of Science and Technology (MOET); Ministry of Planning and Investment (MOPI), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Government Office.

The Prime Minister and his delegates highly valued VASEA’s contribution to the bilateral relationship between Australian and Vietnam. The Prime Minister has endorsed VASEA’s action plan presented at the meeting and has, with very detailed instruction, delegated each his Ministers to provide support to VASEA. Key areas of VASEA’s action plan presented to the Prime Minister including:

  • Education and Training (e.g. project 89);
  • Science and Technology Transfer (e.g. project 2395, New Awards for Overseas Vietnamese Scholar and Experts, a summit to focus on new technologies for Climate change Adaptation for the Mekong Delta);
  • Innovation Ecosystem (e.g. working with the Ministry of Planning and Investment for upskilling innovation in Vietnam);
  • Environment Social and Governance (e.g. support and provide ESG training to SMEs).

The VASEA’s activities have been featured in both English and Vietnamese media.
