VASEA SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH HANOI UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (HUST)

This is one of a series of activities of the Vietnamese Australian Scholars & Experts Association (VASEA) within the framework of the visit of the Vietnamese Prime Minister HE Pham Minh Chinh and nine Ministers who attended the Special ASEAN-Australia Summit in Melbourne. Today on the 5th of March, 2024, VASEA had a signing ceremony on education and training cooperation with HUST under the witness of the Minister for Science and Technology HE Prof. Huynh Thanh Dat.

Before entering the signing ceremony, VASEA presented its vision to be a bridge connecting Vietnamese scholars and experts in Australia in different industries with their counterparts in Vietnam, focusing on key areas such as science and technology, education and training and international relations, supporting the establishment of legal and policy frameworks on trade and investment and sustainable development. VASEA also shared with HUST the programs implemented in 2023, including a discussion on decarbonisation pathways conducted with the Ministry of Science and Technology. Every month, VASEA organises an online seminar with different topics.

The President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) Associate Professor Huynh Quyet Thang also introduced the strengths and development orientation of HUST. HUST currently has five member universities. The two parties have reached some agreements such as joint promotion of the two organisations through international conferences, joint research, and collaborative projects; Supporting the development of transnational and international education and training programs. VASEA will act as a bridge connecting masters and doctoral students with lecturers with appropriate expertise at Australian universities.

On this occasion, the Minister of Science and Technology expressed his impression of the scale and organisation, especially the consolidation of scholars associations in the states in Australia and the presence of experts in the industry. The Minister highly appreciated VASEA’s productive activities since its establishment. The Minister encouraged HUST to be a bridge to spread VASEA’s cooperation to the member universities. Furthermore, the Ministry of Science and Technology also has projects that require the cooperation of highly qualified overseas experts and sees this cooperation as an important one!
